a return to solitary

Right I'm back, and with a vengeance. Having a year long hiatus to pursue other interests such as getting employed, moving cities, and using my spare time to write for brandish.tv I have returned to my very own blog. Reasons for a return to blogging solitary are 2 fold, firstly though I loved writing for brandish, spending time seeing how far I can stretch my posts away from menswear and fashion and keeping abreast of the latest ficalities of designers and brands it wasn't a good board to sound all my annoyances and observations on the world. Secondly and more importantly: brandish folded. I am now the blogging homeless.

Firstly can I just say a big thanks to IsabelleOC for giving me the opportunity to write for brandish and not calling me out for my lacking basic knowledge in fashion and the English language (I have no idea what an epaulette or a noun is). Secondly I'll take this opportunity to wish all the best to the Shiny Media team, hope you all land on your feet and don't spend too much time on the dole, scumbags.

My decision to restart this blog came before I heard that brandish had gone south, however the timing was spookily close. I came to this decision because I wanted another arena to spout something far more venomous than was appropriate for male fashion, also I need somewhere to practise my prose and verse if I am ever to get started on my novel (and I'm only half joking). At some point I will edit down my older posts, however right now I can't bring myself to read what I wrote in a haze of pre-employment desperation. I'll save that job for a particularly twisted hangover. Enjoy.

Celebrate the 2008 election 80's style... 1780's that is. I lifted that line from the Royal Workhorse website because it, like the T-shirt, is genius.

It's hard to say exactly why but Barack Obama is a funny man. Nothing he does or says is particularly jovial but his image, the theory of Barack Obama is just plain hilarious and I would seriously suggest a franchise to anyone with the means to make it happen.

This T-shirt is great, and I can't stress that enough. I want one so bad.

I'm an English man, and I like to pronounce things how I like. Mostly I like to pronounce things how they are spelt, in the Queens English as it were. Correctly some would say and they would be right. But if you must then this is how to pronounce the names of all the designers that are not good enough to have good old English names.

Lucky Strike, toasted control

You just don't see celebrities smoking anymore. Cancer isn't cool, but smoking is and seeing as one in three of us is going to get cancer anyway then why not have some control over it and pick mouth, throat or lung.

Kudos to LiLo there for lighting one up and saying "Fuck you world, I'm grabbing you by the balls and taking some control back!"

25 years of the cruiser

You watch this video and you realise that for 25 years of effort, TC has made a lot of bad movies. You also realise that this is what he does in his spare time, makes montages of himself, then makes Katie Holmes watch them.

Hey remember when Crazy T said that he was the only one who could help in a car accident? That was hilarious! Why isn't that in the montage? It's grade A Cruiser.

Another piece of footwear history from the Vans archive. The Lacey is back and incorporates a slip-on basic style with deck shoe style lace detail around the the ankle. They look awesome and are available in a few colours from your local Vans dealer.
